Hi there. Thanks for stopping by. I’m trying something different with this edition. Normally, we’ve focused on the two most important dogs I know, Peggy and Steve. But there are so many dogs out there. This post is a modest effort at sampling the herd.
Recently, I posted a photo of Peggy contorted on the couch and napping in all her glory. In response, hundreds of people sent me their dogs in magnificent repose. Here is a brief taxonomy (this headline was stolen with permission from Cameron Peters)
Now, let’s all take a deep breath and direct our focus on some dogs for a moment.
The Stone Cold Weirdos
Here we have Phoebe, who as a puppy, fell asleep against her crate like so:
Then, there’s Meghan’s dog. Frankly, he should be in his own category. If I’m being honest I believe that he should win some sort of award for this nap. Perhaps scientists should study him to understand more about how physics work and how to defy gravity. I’m in awe of this glorious beast.
The Dogsitter
A subset of the Stone Cold Weirdo. In this photo Summer is using Easy as a stool. I respect the decision as well as Easy’s choice to live up to his name and be cool with it.
The Confused Couch
Brendan’s dog offers a perfect
Kipper may also want to consult his sofa’s owner’s manual.
I particularly enjoyed this precarious perch.
This next one is a favorite of Steve’s as well and if I’m being truthful…this may be the right way to couch.
This pal gets it.
And then there’s Teddy. Distinguished Teddy.
The Regrettable Pillow
I don’t pass judgment here at Some Dogs but these choices seem…suspect.
Still, I salute the wooden bear pillow.
And then we have Sammy. For his sake I hope it was lightly worn.
Alexander’s dog got so close.
The Chiropractor
This was perhaps the most popular position. Here’s Nadia.
And Hazel
This guy is continuing the tradition of wrenched neck napping.
This one looks like a time out but is clearly just a snooze.
Sometimes you have to make do with space constraints.
The Pretzel
The Pretzel is versatile and can assume many forms. Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
OK! That was a lot of dogs. There were many more but we will save them for another day. Please let me know if you enjoyed this edition of Some Dogs. And if you’d like to see our fine publication branch out more frequently. If you enjoyed this, consider passing it along to a friend. Thanks again.
Your faithful correspondent,
Charlie
Woke up really cranky today but after checking out the blog I have a big smile. Thanks!
This is the best thing on the internet I've seen in awhile, Charlie.
